Project Description

Problem: Understand Cost Drivers

An advisor brought us an employer who was frustrated with the lack of information available on their benefit plan. The CFO was tired of paying more and getting less as the benefits changed every year, and the amount rewarded for their good experience was minimal.

The Stirling Solution

  • Understanding the drivers of plan costs is critical to reducing waste and keeping plan savings. If the program is “level funded,” which under the law is self-funding, the carrier keeps half or more of the reserves in a good year. Moving to a self-funded program with Stirling allows the employer to keep all their reserves. Stop Loss contracts contain preventative measures against excessive losses.   Stirling provides the group and advisor with a full data set to inform future decisions about the benefits.

100% of the reserves returned to the employer.

Compared to level premium contracts, the group keeps their full reserves instead of half.
